Nguyen v. TIAG is the name that Flanagan Law, P.C. and its press releases use for a wrongful death lawsuit over the death of Tony Nguyen, who the firm says was killed on Interstate 20 near Fulton Industrial Boulevard when a tractor-trailer struck his car. The verdict form filed in the State Court of Fulton County captions the case Thuy Hang Thi Huynh, individually and as administrator of the estate of Tony Nguyen, v. Transportation Inc. Agent Group, Inc., Civil Action File No. 22EV001148.[1][2][3]
A jury decided the case in two phases, returning the second phase verdict on March 20, 2025. Verdict lists give the total as $98,068,719, while the firm describes it as $99.9 million. Published sources describe Brendan Flanagan as having served on the plaintiff's trial team. The verdict is not final: on September 3, 2026, the Court of Appeals of Georgia docketed two related appeals, A27A0339 and A27A0340, and both were pending when the dockets were checked on October 16, 2026.[7][5][1][2][10][8][9]

Results described on this page are summarized from the cited sources. Past results do not guarantee a similar outcome, and every matter depends on its own facts and law.
Case names
The case appears under several names. Flanagan Law and its press releases call it Nguyen v. TIAG, using the initials of the carrier, Transportation Inc. Agent Group Inc. TopVerdict.com lists it as Nguyen v. Transp. Inc. Agent Grp. Inc. VerdictSearch uses the court caption, Huynh v. Transportation Inc Agent Group Inc., and Bondurant Mixson & Elmore's profile of co-counsel Michael B. Terry also refers to it as Huynh v. Transportation Inc. Agent Group.[1][2][7][5][11]
The plaintiff named in the caption is Thuy Hang Thi Huynh, who sued on her own behalf and as administrator of Tony Nguyen's estate. The defendant named on the phase two verdict form is the carrier alone.[3]

The crash as the firm describes it
According to the firm's case study, Nguyen was driving on Interstate 20 before dawn on a rainy morning when another driver lost control, struck his car and knocked it across the highway into the median wall, then left his own car and fled the scene. A tractor-trailer traveling in the left lane then hit Nguyen's disabled car at highway speed. The firm says the truck was missing its right windshield wiper, that the driver said his onboard camera was unplugged, and that the physical evidence showed he did not brake until about the moment of impact.[1]
See: Firm case study on the Nguyen verdict
The firm's July 2026 press release describes the crash as a head-on collision, which differs from the case study's account of a truck striking a disabled car. The Daily Report described it as a fatal crash in Fulton County.[2][1][6]
Lost evidence
The second phase of the trial concerned what happened to the evidence after the crash. The firm's case study says the tractor-trailer was scrapped before the family's experts could inspect it, and that people working with the defense removed the airbag control module from Nguyen's car at a storage lot and that it was never recovered. It says the court then issued a 27-page order on spoliation, finding that the company had a duty to preserve the truck, its dash camera data, the driver's hours of service logbooks and the airbag control module, and that it failed to do so.[1]
The firm's July 2026 release gives a similar account of a court order on the missing evidence. The order itself was not among the documents checked for this entry. The Daily Report reported that the second phase hit the defendant with punitive damages for allegedly destroying critical evidence after the crash.[2][6]
Trial and verdict
The case was tried in two phases. In the first, the jury awarded $66.25 million in compensatory damages, which the firm says consisted of $60 million for the full value of Nguyen's life and $6.25 million for his estate's claim for pain and suffering.[6][1][2]
The phase two verdict form is dated March 20, 2025, the day it was filed. It found the plaintiff entitled to $31,500,000 in attorneys' fees and $68,718.72 in expenses of litigation, and imposed $250,000 in punitive damages on the carrier. The form told the jury that it could not award fees or expenses of litigation on the punitive damages.[3]

TopVerdict.com and VerdictSearch both list the verdict at $98,068,719, which is the phase one award plus the three phase two amounts, rounded to the nearest dollar. The firm describes the verdict as $99.9 million, and one entry on its results page gives $99,941,150.23. The sources checked do not explain the difference between the firm's figures and the listed total. The Daily Report's headline called it a verdict of nearly $100 million.[7][5][1][12][6]
Counsel
TopVerdict.com lists five lawyers from four firms for the plaintiff: Brendan Flanagan and Morgan E. Lyndall of Flanagan Law, Ben C. Brodhead II of Brodhead Law, Alex H.Q. Nguyen of 770GoodLaw and Michael B. Terry of Bondurant Mixson & Elmore. The Daily Report pictured Flanagan, Brodhead, Alex Nguyen and Terry with its story and quoted Brodhead calling the defendants' conduct the most egregious he had seen in his career.[7][6]

Published sources describe Brendan Flanagan as having served on the plaintiff's trial team. The firm's July 2026 release says the firm served on that team, and Flanagan's Justia biography says he did. Bondurant Mixson & Elmore describes Terry as part of the trial team. Some later firm materials describe Flanagan's role in broader terms. This entry uses the trial team description.[2][10][11][13][12]

Appeals
The verdict is not final. The docket of the Court of Appeals of Georgia shows two related appeals, both docketed on September 3, 2026: A27A0339, titled Transportation Inc. Agent Group, Inc. v. Huynh et al., and A27A0340, titled Huynh et al. v. Transportation Inc. Agent Group, Inc.[8][9]
See: Docket A27A0339 (www.gaappeals.gov); Docket A27A0340 (www.gaappeals.gov)
When the dockets were checked on October 16, 2026, both showed the status Case Pending-Briefs Filed, and the court had not decided either appeal. What amount, if any, will ultimately be paid on the verdict is not known.[8][9]
Verdict lists and coverage
TopVerdict.com placed the verdict ninth on its list of the ten largest motor vehicle accident verdicts in the United States in 2025, fourteenth among the twenty largest wrongful death verdicts, and fifty-ninth among the hundred largest verdicts of any kind. VerdictSearch's list of the largest Georgia jury verdicts of 2025 reported to it places the case third.[7][14][15][5]
