Flanagan Law, P.C. publishes a sample of thirty case results on its website, with longer case studies for several of them. The firm states that it has recovered more than $140 million in verdicts and settlements and has served more than a thousand clients. This entry summarizes the results as the firm reports them and adds court records and news reports where the sources checked include them.[1][2]

The largest entry is the March 2025 Fulton County verdict in Nguyen v. TIAG, which is on appeal. Most of the others are settlements of motor vehicle claims in metro Atlanta counties. Past results do not predict the outcome of any other case.[1][3][4]

Results described on this page are summarized from the cited sources. Past results do not guarantee a similar outcome, and every matter depends on its own facts and law.

The results page

The firm's results page lists its thirty results from largest to smallest and marks nine of them as recoveries larger than the insurance it says was available. The seven largest entries are shown below as the page lists them.[1]

The remaining 23 entries are settlements of between $100,000 and $750,000 dated from 2019 to 2026. Seventeen are labelled motor vehicle accidents, one a delivery truck accident and one an uninsured motorist claim, and four have no case type. Their listed venues are seven Georgia counties (Fulton, Gwinnett, Cobb, DeKalb, Clayton, Fayette and Newton), with one settlement in Florida and one listed as confidential.[1]

Case studies

Besides Nguyen, the firm has published case studies for the next five results on its list. Each is the firm's own account, and the confidential settlements are described without the parties' names.[1]

  • $8.5 million. The firm describes a confidential settlement in a case in which liability was disputed from the start. It gives no parties or facts, and it says it brought in financial advisors to structure the settlement for the family.[5]
  • $2.5 million. The case study concerns a nurse whose car was struck from behind by a commercial work truck on Interstate 285 in December 2021. The firm says the insurer refused its demands for the $1 million policy limits, that it served an offer of settlement for $250,000 when it filed suit in January 2024, and that the client later needed neck surgery.[6]
  • $2 million. The firm says this confidential settlement was many times the at-fault driver's policy limits, after the insurer turned down several chances to settle within those limits and mediation failed. The results page lists $250,000 of available insurance for the case.[7][1]
  • $1 million, delivery truck. The firm says another attorney referred this case, that the investigating officer cited the delivery truck driver, and that the client, who had a concussion and spinal disc injuries and later had cervical spine surgery, recovered the full $1 million policy.[8]
  • $1 million, burn injury. According to the firm, a husband and wife were burned at an event when a venue employee poured butane fuel onto the open flame of a buffet warmer. The firm says the venue's owners admitted fault and that the recovery was the full available insurance coverage.[9]

Trials listed in the founder's directory profile

Brendan Flanagan's Super Lawyers profile, whose case descriptions he supplies, lists several smaller jury trials in Georgia state courts. They are described here as the profile describes them unless another source is cited.[10]

  • House v. Seo, State Court of Gwinnett County. The Daily Report wrote in March 2023 that a jury awarded the firm's client $200,000 after a collision and that the insurer, Allstate, then settled all claims for $300,000. The profile describes a $241,000 result at trial, made up of the jury's $200,000 and about $41,000 in attorney's fees. The newspaper's headline gives Allstate's offer as $16,000, while the profile gives the top pre-trial offer as $19,500.[11][10]
  • Waters v. Tench, State Court of DeKalb County. According to the profile, a jury returned a $44,580 verdict in a case involving about $15,000 in chiropractic bills, after State Farm had offered $5,000 and the plaintiff had made a $25,000 offer under the offer of settlement statute.[10]
  • Parker v. Rabinovich, State Court of Fulton County. The profile reports a $55,885 verdict followed by an award of $38,366.52 in attorney's fees against the defense.[10]
  • Coombs v. Payne, State Court of Henry County. The profile describes a disputed rear-end collision case in which the insurer's top offer before trial was $60,000 and the jury found for the plaintiff.[10]

Edwards v. Higgins

Edwards v. Higgins is the appellate decision that the firm cites among its results. According to the Court of Appeals of Georgia, Cindy Higgins struck Dishawn Edwards's car in a restaurant drive-through lane in 2018. Edwards offered to settle for $12,500; Higgins, through her insurer, rejected the offer and countered with $250. Almost four years later a jury awarded Edwards $17,000, and the trial court then awarded her $6,800 in attorney fees under the offer of settlement statute.[12]

Edwards appealed the fee award. On October 31, 2024, the Court of Appeals vacated the award and sent the case back to the trial court. The firm, which identifies the insurer as State Farm, calls the decision a significant win, and its results page says about $100,000 in attorney's fees was recovered after the trial and the appeal. That figure comes from the firm and does not appear in the opinion.[12][13][1][10]

How the results are reported

The amounts in this entry are the firm's own figures except where a court record or news report is cited. The results page compares many settlements with the insurance it says was available, and several case studies describe confidential settlements whose terms cannot be checked. A verdict is not the same as a payment, and the largest verdict on the list is under appeal.[1][5][3][4]
